 “Sometimes it takes a village to grow love”

1. What inspired you to work in the fertility industry?
I was first introduced to the fertility world through the experience of one of my close friends. Her fertility journey brought her to California where I helped her navigate IVF and surrogacy by researching IVF clinics and helping her understand the process as surrogacy is illegal in China. I really felt for her and admired her bravery. This led me to want to help more women achieve their dreams of motherhood and make sure they got the best support throughout their journey.

2. We’d love to hear your story – can you share some highlights of the journey since opening in 2015?
We initially began as a concierge service connecting intended parents with IVF practices, legal counsel, and surrogacy and egg donation professionals. Within a couple of years, we elevated our program and evolved into an inclusive, full-service surrogacy and egg donation agency. We now proudly work with intended parents in the US and around the globe.

3. What has been your most rewarding experience personally over your years in this work?
No two journeys are alike and they each carry a story that inspires hope and resilience. One journey that instantly comes to mind is an intended mother of ours who was diagnosed with breast cancer. Between her trips to the Mayo Clinic, surgeries, and medications over a course of five years, her ovaries were left compromised. When she came to us, she still had every intention of becoming a mother and had a short window to start an IVF cycle before she needed to begin taking medication that would further impact her fertility.

Our team immediately got to work and coordinated with her IVF clinic. She went through two rounds of IVF and they were able to produce quality embryos. From there, we matched her with two gestational carriers and each carrier delivered a healthy baby girl. While this is proof that miracles happen when a village comes together, I am even happier to share that she is now cancer free.

4. What is your advice for intended parents just beginning to consider surrogacy?
It is a little cliche, but I still think it’s important to remind intended parents – just like no two people are alike, no two journeys are the same. At Giving Tree Surrogacy, we focus on understanding your unique needs and then developing a journey plan that will take you through each stage of the egg donation and surrogacy process with a level of communication and guidance that will turn you into an expert by the time your baby is here.
