There are various factors you’ll want to consider when choosing an egg donor (all of which is available on GoStork!). You can even sort and filter our database by the factors that are most important to you!
Height, weight, hair color and eye color. Many intended parents prefer donors with similar physical features to themselves, their partner or a combination of both, while others go for someone who looks different.
You’ll receive a lot of information on personal and family history, including blood type, recent medications, any history of genetic disorders, as well as if they smoke or drink.
An egg donor with ‘proven fertility’ has had a previous successful pregnancy and shows that the donor has the potential to provide healthy eggs. You’ll be able to see if the donor has donated eggs prior that resulted in a successful pregnancy and, in some cases, how many eggs her prior cycles yielded.
This will include the level of education she has achieved (ie. high school, college or postgraduate degrees), and in many cases her test scores.
Her heritage, religion, career, criminal record (if she has one, though of course most do not) and other personal characteristics.
Donors must have a healthy Body Mass Index between 18-27 – but as far as the donor’s specific weight, that may be a consideration that’s important to you.
Can range from $5,000 to $20,000 – with the lower end indicating a first time egg donor and the higher end being charged by more experienced egg donors. Education level will also affect these costs.
Given that age is one of the most important factors as related to a woman’s fertility, it is recommended for egg donors to be between 21 and 34 years old. Each agency will have its own thresholds within this age range, and intended parents can decide according to their preference.
